Role of Coloane Health Centre
The Coloane Health Centre plays a significant role in primary healthcare in Coloane since the island does not have a hospital.Seated in front of Largo do Presidente António Ramalho Eanes, the Coloane Health Centre is a single-storey and porchless structure of practical architectural design, just like the several other buildings which are used as premises for the uniformed services in Taipa and Coloane. The exterior walls and their junctions are embellished in Neo-classical style of the late 19th century to early 20th century. Symmetrical stairways run on both sides before its entrance, with a balustrade bearing the same design as the one surrounding its rooftop, which is for decorative purpose.
The architectural layout of the structure resembles that of buildings of Portuguese colonies. The stairways before its entrance, the stately-looking symmetrical exterior walls and its terrace are the kind of architectural features found in buildings of Goa.
