Architecture of Coloane Municipal Market

Constructed in 1892, some years later than that of the old Municipal Market of Taipa, it is so far the oldest municipal market in operation across Macao since the last century. Architectural-wise, tall and massive Tuscan style pillars are used instead of walls to support the tiled Western-style triangular wooden-framed roof of both municipal markets of Taipa and Coloane. Tuscan style pillars with simple capital are commonly used in architectural construction in the old days.
