About the painter
George Smirnoff (1903-1947), honored as the Father of Modern Art of Macao, was a Russian architect famed in Shanghai and Hong Kong. He worked as an art teacher in Macao’s St. Luiz Gonzaga College and had drawn dozens of landscape paintings of the city between 1944 and 1945.
