Praça de Ponte e Horta

The Ponte e Horta Plaza, also known as Si Da Hau, was named after José Maria da Ponte e Horta, the governor of Macao during 1866 to 1868.  The “Si Da” in the term “Si Da Hau” is the Chinese transliteration of certain Portuguese word while “Hau” signifies “Sui Hau” (Tax Collection Post). By then, “Si Da Hau” was a small jetty where tax was levied on imported goods.
