Sin Fong Temple (vanguard)

Built during the reign of Emperor Daoguang of Qing dynasty, the Sin Fong Temple (vanguard) is dedicated to General Vanguard, the tutelary deity that protects a country against aggression. It used to be located outside Mong-Há Village, close to the Mong-Há Hill in an area known as “Lou Dou Seng”, which was a settlement made up of fishing households, shipyards and stockaded houses along the waterfront. By then, seeing the city suffering from upheavals, the gentry of Mong-Há Village proposed to construct a temple consecrated to General Vanguard. The idea was supported by the fishing households who donated money for its construction. The feast of General Vanguard falls on the 6th day of the sixth lunar month every year.
