Hong Kung Temple

The Hong Chan Kuan Temple (Perfected Duke Hong), commonly known as Hong Kung Temple (Duke Hong), is consecrated to a mix of Buddhist gods and Taoist deities. Allegedly, the residents of the district found a wooden sculpture of Duke Hong floating in the waters of the nearby seafront. They picked it up and subsequently pooled the necessary funds to build a temple to enshrine it to invoke blessings from Duke Hong, who is believed to have the power to bring forth safety. In 1860, the temple was constructed close-by the piers.
