Rua de Cinco de Outubro

The century-old Rua de Cinco de Outubro, also known as “Rua de Sei Mang”, used to be a small indented bay along the Interior Harbor where the Sei Mang Pier had once existed. At the time when road construction was carried out in the surrounding areas, the street built over the bay was named “Rua de Sei Mang”. Later on, it was officially renamed into “Rua de Cinco de Outubro” to commemorate the revolution in Portugal that had successfully deposed its constitutional monarchy on 5 October 1910.
