Rua de S. Domingos

Rua de S. Domingos owes its name to St. Dominic’s Church situated on the west side of the street. The church, also known as Igreja de S. Domingos in Portuguese, was built around 1587 and has since been renovated into its current state.
The traces of Dr. Sun Yat-sen and his father have left Rua de S. Domingos with a strong historical atmosphere. In  the  fall of  1935, O Lon, a Communist Party member, was sent to Macao, where he opened the "O Lon Clinic" at Rua de S. Domingos. Through this clinic, O Lon made significant contributions to the birth of the new China, through his underground work.
